RICHMOND, Va. – Virginia Tax will begin a major upgrade of our online systems and services over Labor Day weekend. To prepare for the transition, our online filing and payment applications will be temporarily unavailable starting Saturday, September 5. Services will be restored on Tuesday, September 8, at 7:00am.
Taxpayers who planned to use our online filing and payment services during Labor Day weekend should complete all transactions before September 5.
Beginning Saturday, September 5 at 12:01am, all tax services will be unavailable including:
- Tax payments and payment processing
- Filing returns
- Checking refund status
If taxpayers have a payment already scheduled over Labor Day weekend, it will be considered timely based on the scheduled payment date.
What to expect after the upgrade
Taxpayers will be able to resume normal business with us after Labor Day, on Tuesday, September 8 at 7:00am. At that time, businesses will also be able to experience our new, modernized Online Services platform.
