Virginia Tax takes the protection of taxpayer information very seriously. We are aware of an issue involving printed Form 1099-Gs for a number of taxpayers concentrated in the Virginia Beach area. Together with the print vendor, we have thoroughly investigated the issue and identified the specific taxpayers affected. We deeply regret this error and apologize for any inconvenience.
Fortunately, personal account information is redacted on all 1099-Gs. That information remains safe and secure.
We will send corrected 1099-G forms to all affected taxpayers, along with a letter explaining the situation. We ask that affected taxpayers shred the incorrect information they received. Taxpayers can also access a correct Form 1099-G with our 1099-G Lookup Tool.
