If you use an online business account to file Sales & Use tax with us, you can now use our new, modernized Online Services platform to file and pay. On November 9, Sales & Use taxes will officially move from our older online services platform to the new platform, so we encourage you to start transitioning your account now.

Do you have a debit block on your bank account? All businesses with a debit block in place need to add our new Company ID (5546001745) to your list of approved payees before making a payment through our website to avoid rejected payments. Visit tax.virginia.gov/debit-block for more information.

We will be closing at 12:00 pm on Friday, September 4, for the Labor Day holiday. We will reopen at 9:00 am on Tuesday, September 8.

If you have a payment already scheduled during this time, it will be considered timely based on the scheduled payment date.

Online business registration is temporarily unavailable. Online registration will be available again Tuesday, September 8 through our new Online Services platform. This is part of a larger effort to modernize our online services for taxpayers.

Beginning June 2026, the exemption certificates issued through Nonprofit Online will have a new look. If you have an older-style exemption certificate, don’t worry – if it hasn’t expired, your certificate is still good.
